- The big news out of Auburn today is that Tommy Tuberville has "resigned". This confirms every suspicion I had about people down south...they're dumb. In the words of Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder, they've gone "full retard" down there in Auburn. Trust me, no one wants to go "full retard"(on a side note, Tropic Thunder is hilarious). Here we have a coach over the past 10 years that has a .688 winning percentage, 7-3 against their in-state rival 'Bama, a 13-0 season, an SEC Championship, and a prestige around the country as a perennial top-15 team. One bad season for Auburn and one good season for 'Bama, and this is what one of the best coaches in college football gets. Who are they going to get that's any better? The college football world will be waiting...
- The St. Louis Cardinals made a move for San Diego Padres Shortstop Khalil Greene for unnamed players. Not an earth shattering move for the Cards, but a good one. Although it's not hard to do, it was an offensive upgrade over Izturis, although a slight drop-off on defense. Even if Greene bats around his career .248 (that isn't too far off from Izturis' .260 career avg.), he still adds a lot more power to the lineup than Izturis did. This is also a good move for the Padres. They will probably get some pitching - who doesn't need more pitching? - and this is probably a pure salary dump move. Freeing up $6.5 million/year helps their cause for trying to keep Jake Peavy on the team.
- The UNC Tarheels Basketball team mauled Michigan State last night...in Michigan. Granted, it was a "neutral" site in Detroit, it was still a thrashing. Either Michigan State is way overrated - which is quite possible since that is happening a lot in recent years - or UNC is one bad motha...

a few things...
-Someone in NCAAF is going to get a great coach in Tubberville. If Mizzou didn't give Pinkel the extension I would be exctatic to have him roam the sidelines for the Tigers. Hopefully he stays out of the Big 12 because I dont want to see him lining a team up against Mizzou every year. Way to shit your pants Auburn.
-Khalil Greene needs to cut the rat's nest before he puts on the birds on the bats. He has a 7th graders haircut as a 28 year old man. Basically he looks like an asshole. Decent signing tho. He should provide some pop. Something the cards were without last year. They need to look at Kelly Johnson or keeping Felipe Lopez at the 2 bag. Either guy could probably lead off and would be a nice platoon with "Mr Jose Oquendo" of the 21st century Aaron Miles.
